Minister: Authorities to issue no licenses for new fields in Yamal
MOSCOW, Jun 27 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Natural Resources and Environment Ministry does not plan to grant licenses for new gas fields in the northern Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, Minister Sergei Donskoi told reporters on Tuesday.
In 2016, the ministry suspended license issuance for new deposits on the Yamal and Gydan peninsulas on request of independent gas producer Novatek. Gas and gas condensate fields with aggregate C1+C2 inferred reserves of 589 cubic meters of gas, including the Gydanskoye, Soletskoye-Khanaveiskoye, Zapadno-Seyakhinskoye, Verkhnetituteiskoye and Shtormovoye, as well as those with an overall C3+D gas potential of 2.9 trillion cubic meters, including the Bukharinskoye, Vostochno-Yavaiskoye, Momontovskoye, Severo-Gydanskoye and Yarachoitskoye, were excluded from the list.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a ruling to auction the Verkhnetituteiskoye, Zapadno-Seyakhinskoye, and Shtormovoye fields. Novatek will be the only company able to win the action as it meets all the requirements.
